Kata Beach Hotel-Phuket
Does anyone have any recommendations for 4 star hotels on Kata Beach other the Mon Tri's Boathouse and the Katathani? We had reservations at Mon Tri's, but Asiarooms did not honor the price quoted. we're looking forward to staying on Kata Beach, but need help. Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Kata Palm. Not a 4 star, and rather disappointing. However, the Sugar Palm down one or two sois was pretty new and looked great (in a contemporary/minimalist kind of way). Neither hotel is on the beach/water.
Also, I had repeated problems with Asia Rooms not honoring their quoted prices. Try Sawadee.com, we found better/comparable pricing and better service there for the same hotels.

Hello Gpanda,
I was in a conference at Kata Resort a couple of years ago & found the property really nice. After being picked up by the hotel shuttle at the airport, was greeted by a cold drink & cold towel at arrival. Check in was smooth & I was escorted to my 2nd floor superior room farthest from the elevator. Quite a walk although there was an elevator. That's what I get for requesting to be roomed alone. The photo could have been my room except for the occassional noise of the tuk tuks outside. Room was dark teak including the flooring . Real pretty silk pillow cases were around the room. It was a very clean & comfortable room. I'm sure the deluxe & suites will be much nicer. There were rooms that lead out to the swimming pool.
Daily brekkie in the Atrium Coffee shop was adequate with lots of choices- lots of fruit & fresh juices if I remember right as well. Gorgeous view of the sunset & Crab island. Tried their pad thai the first night I was there & it was OK but very nicely presented. The GM was around a lot & mingled freely with the guests.
Service was top notch. The entire staff was very helpful. Housekeeping came in minutes after I asked for more toiletties.
Got daily massages & a mani/pedi from the open air hut by the pool. There was a lot of sun chairs available by the pool & service was very friendly & efficient.
I came in a few months after the Tsunami & brought in a suitcase of school supplies, toys for the children. Because I had no time to do the 4 hour round trip to the Elementary School, I endorsed the box to the hotel & requested help for the delilvery. A few weeks later, I received an email with pictures from the Marketing Manager. He had personally made the trip & hand delivered the box with toys & school supplies to the teachers of the devastated school.
The night market was a 20-30 minute ride away with a rented vehicle. As expected MBK prices were way better- they tried to hit you hard at Patong Market.
Beware of the laundry bag in the room, I made the mistake of using it, & was charged $5 at check out. It was a jute sack & thought it was complimentary.
Check out planet holiday/agoda rates. Could be3.5 Star probably. You could also check in to the rest of the Kata Group properties.
