We'd like to spend a couple of days at Kamakura soon. Has anyone some nice experiences to share, found a nice place to stay in the area (around Y10000 for two) ,ways to get there and around, eat etc?

Have never been but am planning to in October for the first time. Here is where I want to eat lunch at:

Easiest way to get there is by train, then walking.

I've been twice; once stayed in the Youth Hostel (very nice!) and once at a friend's home (VERY nice!)

There are plenty of good places to eat, as it is a very popular Japanese tourist destination. The place HT recommends looks great.

Managed to get a booking for 2 nights at Classic Hotel Ajisai @Y13700 night for double. It right in the action so a bit over budget is ok.

Kamakura has some great Buddhist temples, great place to stroll around and soak in the atmosphere. I can't remember the name but there is one that you climb all the way to the top of a hill and get a gorgeous view of the area, very peaceful and calming. If you have time you may want to visit Enoshima, you can take a train there from Kamakura station. Its a pretty seaside area
