Just booked a last minute trip to Bali!
I've just booked a last minute trip to Bali and Borobodur. We'll be away only 11 days which isn't enough but as it's a "extra" trip it should be fun.
I've made reservations at Kupu Kupu Barong in Ubud and will post a review when we get back if this is somewhere anyone else is considering.
I've also made a dinner reservation at Mozaic. in the past several people mentioned they were asked to confirm the reservation with a credit card. Though I didn't encounter this they ask you to confirm the reservation on the day of which seems fair enough.
I'm so looking forward to the trip and it qualifies for triple miles on United - perfect!

Have a great trip. I will be interested to hear if Ubud seems busy or quiet. I have heard that a lot of toursits are avoiding the southern beaches and heading to Ubud.
Yummmm...Mozaic....can't wait to try it when we are there in May. I have also heard that Terazo in Ubud is the 2nd best.

Thanks Clear!
Cruisinred...I'll definately let you know about Ubud. It doesn't seem too busy as lots of places had both availability and discount packages.
I was also interested to find that Mozaic does allow you to bring your own wine (with a $8 corkage) which will allow us to bring a special bottle from home.
We'll check out Terazo.
Also just to say I found the Luxe guide(which I ordered on Amazon) rather fun. It's brief on hotels but there are lots of villa, shopping/ spa/restaurant suggestions.

Hi WTB-
If you need the website for Terazo, it is www.baligoodfood.com
I am still trying to decide on our Ubud accomodation for our May trip. I am torn between a great looking villa for $16o per night (www.tamugroup.com -Villa Sawah) or the new Ubud Hanging Gardens. The latter has nicer views of the river valley, but is a 25 min. drive to down. The villa is only a 20 min. walk.....
If by chance, you should hear or see anything about either place, I would be curious to know. On the other hand, if you return with a glowing review of Kupu Barong, I might follow in your footsteps and get the LuxLink package.
Sorry for rambling...but have a great trip!

cruisinred,
Thanks for the web link.
It seems we had the same difficulty deciding! We wanted to spend no more than $200 per night but get as much luxury as possible. The Tamu villas and look wonderful, are a great dealright now and they seem to get raves (listed in Luxe etc). Lots of people swear by the villa experience and I did contact them but they were booked for our dates.
We also considered the Hanging Gardens which looks lovely but I thought the villas looked very close together in the pictures - though I know they could still feel private inside. If we go over there for dinner I'll let you know what it's like. I centainly think that a new or recently refurbished hotel is always a good choice in the tropics where things can look worn very quickly.
Kupu offers a great deals on their website which rivaled LL...(hint -click on the australian flag)
