JR pass for this itinerary?
My wife and two teenage boys are arriving in Japan for a 7 day trip Nov 19-26. We arrive at Narita, 3 nights in Tokyo, 2 nights in Koyoto, 1 night in Hiroshima. Do we take a JR train from Narita to Tokyo (Grand Hyatt), or go by bus? Then do we use JR trains to travel around Tokyo? Also, we could use the JR train to Koyoto, Hiroshima, then back to Osaka for the flight home. Also, is it cutting it too close to leave Hiroshima, in the AM to go to Osaka(KIX) to fly back to SFO at 4:55 pm? So, with this itinerary should we buy the JR rail pass?

Yes. But yours is an 8 day trip.
For the itineray you have described your best use of a 7-day Pass would be to use it for the last seven days: Nov 20-26. Take the bus on your arrival day, Nov 19, to your Tokyo hotel. Or take the train, paying separately for that ticket.

The above answer was "yes' to the question in the thread title. Also, yes you can use the JR Pass for SOME of your travel around Tokyo, but maybe not all of it. This is because some of the subway and train lines in Tokyo are not operated by JR. Yes you could use the pass to go to Kyoto, Hirsohima, Osaka, and to Kansai airport.
I was pretty sure of my answer in my first reply, but I checked on it anyway. Tokyo to Kyoto is about 13000, Kyoto to Hiroshima is about 11000, and Hiroshima to Kansai airport is about 11000. That's 35000 yen. The pass costs 28000.
Tokyo to Hiroshima is about 18500, then 11000 to go to Kyoto. That itinerary is less than the 35,000 route but the JR Pass still beats it.

Ok, 4:55 PM just happens to be the departure time of United flight 886.
If you leave Hiroshima on the Hikari shinkansen at 11:10 AM and change to a Haruka limited express at Shin Osaka then you can arrive at JR Kansai airport station at 14:02.

I'm currently in Nagoya heading down to Kokura tonight in the Shinkansen. I highly recommend the JR Pass, the passes have to be purchased outside of Japan! Here is a helpful link.
