Japan Itinerary,Please HELP.

While we are in Tokyo we plan to go to the following places with a tour group.
1.Tokyo Tower
2.Meiji Shrine
3.Akasaka Guest House
4.National Diet Building
5.Imperial Palace East Garden
6.Drive by the Imperial Palace
7.Sumida River Cruise
8.Asakusa Kannon Temple
9.Nakamise shopping street
10.Ueno and Akihabara

We are going there in the middle of June. We have one free day on our own. I would love some ideas on what we should do that day. Also, can anyone recommend some good family friendly restraunts to eat at? Thanks for the help.

If you have one free day, I recommend you to visit one of these cities;

1>Yokohama
2>Kamakura
3>Hakone
Or spend a day to walk around Ueno area in Tokyo.There are some nice spots to see. Museums,Zoo,Shrine,Local Shopping Area.....
Enjoy your stay in Japan.

Visit Fish market early in the morning, walk in Odaiba near the river, visit Shibuya with its park and shops. Visit Ginza with its first class shops.
Go in Shinjuku, in City Hall tower (at floor 46 if I remember well) for the view of the city. It is free and is open till 10 p.m.

If you want to take a trip, go to Nikko.

Have a nice trip!

Yuk thanks for the information. How long of a train ride is it to Yokohama, Kamakura, and Hakone? Also, what types of things are there to see there??

I second the recommendation to make an early morning visit to the fish market. Even though the auctions are no longer open to visitors, it was still one of the most amazing stops on our trip.

It takes about half an hour by
Tokyu Toyoko Line from Shibuya station to Yokohama area. Yokohama is a port town.
Go this site for details;

Hi

You can also take a day trip to mount Fuji. My wife and I went to Japan last year and I have posted a trip report with some pictures and links on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/japan_tokyo.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there

Regards
Gard

Your hotel is in Hiroo(hiro-o) Area. The hotel is especially for Americans. It's not far from Hiroo station (subway/Hibiya line), you can get the station by 5-10 minutes walk.
Subway Hibiya line takes you to Yokohama area (you have to change once).
The line is connected to Tokyu Toyoko line at Naka-meguro station.
JR Ebisu station is not also far. Take a taxi to the station. Costs may be less than JPY1000.
