We are pretty flexible, want to find a nice property in either Shibuya or Asakusa areas - they seem quite convenient, as do those in Shinjuku....

I personally love Shinjuku and stay at the Century Hyatt Shinjuku. The Keio Plaza in Shinjuku is also a good place to stay. let me know if you want any info on these places

Can't recommend anywhere in Shibuya or Asakusa but would not pick Shibuya to stay in as it is on the outskirts of Tokyo and at the end of a subway line.

I stayed in the Akasaka district and found that to be convinient. Here is my Japan trip report with pictures: http://gardkarlsen.com/japan_tokyo.htm

I don't consider Shibuya as an outskirt. If you look at central Tokyo as a face of a clock, Shinjuku would be 10 o'clock, Shibuya 8 o'clock.

However, I don't know good hotels in Shibuya--I presume most are small-ish business hotels. Shinjuku is quite popular and convenient for some, but the stationis too crowded/too busy for my taste. Akasaka is a good neighbourhood--many hotels and good metro connections.

I'm not aware of hotels around Asakusa. Also things close down earlier on the eastern part, like 9pm.

Many thanks for the feedback from each of you.... Asakusa View Hotel was one recommendation we received, but reviews on Trip Advisor not very complimentary....Dai Ichi Hotel Tokyo is one that did get high praises - they have an underground connection to the trains, nice for winter. Has anyone stayed there?
