Hi

Stayed at the Istana in KL 2 years ago. We were disappointed with it to be honest, have stayed in far nicer hotels with fewer stars. It was OK overall but the pool area was shabby & it had a musty smell everywhere. We were originally going to book the Shangri La but our travel agent persuaded us to change to this, it was a mistake!!

Cathy

I've stayed at the Hyatt in Kuantan, which was lovely. I've only seen the outside of the Swiss Garden resort, and it didn't look nearly as nice.

Hi, I stayed in The Istana June 01 and had no complaints at all. It was a stopover en route to Australia so we got a pretty good deal with Malaysia Airlines. I definitely don't recall it being shabby.

Thanks Jake - you have restored my faith in mankind. I must admit, last year when I was in KL, I had a lovely buffet meal in the Istana and remember thinking how opulent the ground floor area was - I think some people just like to complain about anything !!

Hi, I've been the Swiss Garden in Kuantan, but did not like it so I drove further North and found Kampung Cherating where I choose to sty at a Chalet instead. Another option will be to get into Terengganu and try out the Awana Kijal Resort which is the only resort for 50 miles. Now that place was amazing. Happy holidaying!
