India; where to stay between Jaipur to Udaipur
Planning 2nd trip to India but this time with family. 2 adults, 1 teenager and 10 year old. In initial planning phase. Think we need to break up trip between Jaipur to Udaipur. can someone suggest hotel (luxury) maybe half way. Shahpura Bagh has been suggested...how far is that from Jaipur? is that on way to Udasipur? also someone else suggested Narlai?
thanks

Shahpura Bagh is 137 miles, a fine choice.
Chattrasagar, Nimaj is 144 miles. The best time to arrive there is by noon as lunch is included in the tariff. From Nimaj you can do Ranakpur Jain Temples and then proceed to Udaipur...about 4.3 hours.
Narlai is on the way from Jodhpur to Udaipur.
Hope it helps!

Shahpura Bagh is a wonderful place to stay but the reason to stay there is to meet the family and see something of the area not necessarily to "break the journey". We very much enjoyed our stay there and I would highly recommend it. I think we stopped there after Ranthambore if I remember rightly.
After three trips to Rajasthan I can say that the best times we've had are at some of these smaller places when you stop and see the countryside. We had great visits to Bassi Fort Palace, Deogarh and Bundi and enjoyed them all more than Jaipur.
The Ranakpur Temples mentioned above are lovely too.
Hope this helps!

Distance from Shahpura Bagh to Udaipur is around 223 kms and will take approximately 3 hour(s) 17 min(s) to reach overthere. you can stay in "The Oberoi Udaivilas" situated at Haridasji Ki Magri, Udaipur.

We loved our stay at Bhainsrorgarh Fort (3-4 hrs. from Udaipur):

Fabulous rooftop terrace for dining, and you can also take a boat ride on the mirror-like Chambal river. Very peaceful place that feels out-of-time.
