crosscheck…I remember reading about your photog also…hold the Taj Mahal in your hand perhaps? The funny thing is I have arthritis in my fingers and he kept trying to straighten out my thumb so I'd have a flat hand!
Traveler's checks…our bank could barely get any because they are almost obsolete…but I didn't want to carry that much cash for the whole trip.

bella11…thanks for reading!

If you'd like to view some photos from this trip, I have posted them on SmugMug with this link:

http://barefootbeach.smugmug.com/pho...lbumKey=vMLH6H

They actually begin with Kerala and Mangalore, which were cruise ship stops, before we started the land journey. As of now, I've also posted Jodhpur, Devi Garh and Udaipur…the rest will follow.

Please let me know if you have trouble accessing the photos.

Hi barefootbeach,

Unlike most of your links to photos, this one says you need a password.

I enjoyed this trip report, so I went back and read most of the others. I love your travel and writing style.

Please change format so we can see the pics!

Thanks!

Hi Lolazahra,
I've taken the password setting off…I misunderstood the security settings for this gallery….thought anyone could still see it but not be able to do other things with it.

Thanks so much for your kind comments and I'm glad you enjoyed the other reports as well.

When I read Bob's first trip report about India, which wasn't totally positive, but then after he got home and thought about the trip he wanted to go back, I thought that was rather funny. However, now that I've just put together a slide show of my photos and see the total exuberance of decoration and color on the palaces, forts, mausoleums, hotels and restaurants, not to forget the woman's brilliant saris….I do feel amazed at the time, craftsmanship and talent that went into producing all of those works of architectural art. Not that I'm ready to return….but it really was an incredible trip and I'm so glad we got to experience India in it's complex glory.

I've posted the photos from Shahpura Bagh…refer to the link posted earlier. Sorry it's taking so long, but it takes forever to upload photos to that site. Next, will be Jaipur.

barefootbeach, the pictures are wonderful and all the colors so vibrant. What camera did you use and did you Photoshop them before posting?

Thanks lady rep! Most of the photos were taken with an Olympus Stylus 1, and some with a Canon Powershot Elph 110, which is my husband's camera. In the past, I always used a Canon DSL, but I've gotten tired of carrying such a large camera with two lenses so I wanted a more compact camera that also had great photo quality and a decent zoom. I got those features, but didn't realize I was sacrificing a bit at the wide-angle range, which caused a lot of frustration when I couldn't get the shots I wanted….especially in narrow streets. And, for being compact, it's very complicated to learn to use! It's more like a bridge camera, without interchangeable lenses.

I do edit my photos in I-Photo when needed….that's why it takes so long for me to go through my photos!

hi, barefoot,

not enough time now to go through all the new ones but I love the market and candid shots. They remind me so much of Sri Lanka - the heat, the colours and the smells! really great.
