Getting to the airport Novotel in Bangkok

What's the best way to reach the airport hotel from the airport? I know there's a shuttle bus at door 4 but I've read that even in the middle of the night there's a wait for a sufficient load before moving. Can we easily walk there? Thanks!

IMO it's only a very short walk and I believe, haven't done it myself, you can take the trolley with you to the hotel from the airport.

You can walk there, but not easily. I did so soon after they opened. There were so many obstacles there would have been no way to get a trolley back and forth! It involved walking through the parking garage, crossing multi-lane roads, etc. They were supposed to build a walkway and if they have it would be maybe a 20 minute walk. The last couple of times we have stayed there we had no wait at all for the shuttle. Our plane arrives about 11:30 pm or so.

We walked from the terminal to the Novotel with our carry on luggage and it wasn't a problem. We had planned to walk back to the terminal for our early am flight, but the shuttle was sitting at the hotel door so we we did take the shuttle back to the terminal. Have a great trip!

Different perspectives! that's what makes this board so nice. In terms of time frame we were there early Feb 2012 perhaps that makes a difference? And we definitely didn't walk 20 minutes.

yestravel, is there now a walkway connecting the hotel and the airport? That was the problem when I walked it soon after it opened.

Yes, there was a tunnel walkway that we used during the day. But thinking about all this now, I vaguely recall that there is an issue with the tunnel being closed late at night until early am. Can't recall the specifics now, but remember that we checked into it being open since we had an early am flight.
Maybe check on TA as they have an active BKK forum. Or email the hotel directly.

Interesting. And Marija though she was asking a simple question.

When the hotel first opened, for the first year or so, people reported having to wait for a long time for the shuttle because it would fill up quickly. It seemed they only had one shuttle vehicle. At least the last two times we were there, that was no longer a problem.

And it looks to be possible to walk - no longer do you have to go through the short-term parking structure and across a multi-lane road.

Thanks. I think we'll stick with the shuttle. At midnight I don't want to be wandering in tunnels.

I've stayed here several times and never had to wait more than about 5 minutes fir the shuttle. I used the walkway once (without any luggage) ànd it wasn't difficult, but the shuttle is a lot easier with bags.

probably a good choice - as I recall the tunnel was not very crowded even during the day.

Hmm... every time I've taken the train to the airport, the tunnel to the hotel - which is part of the train station - has been cordoned off. I was curious why it seemed they never opened it, but I guess sometimes it is open.
