We are from the US and are going mostly to China, with a few days stop in Bangkok, Singapore and Bali. We like to travel on our own with a small amount of help (like airport transfers to hotels and 1 city tour). We noticed TBI tours offers this, but we don't know anything about them. Has anyone traveled with them? Is there a better independent company? Thanks ahead for your input.

My husband and I are also independent travelers and were in China for 2 weeks in Oct. of 1999. <BR>We had very good luck with CITS. This is an official guide service and their guides are used by many of the tour companies who book large and small tours in China. <BR>We worked with them through email and they will provide as much or as little as you want. (For example, in Beijing, this was only an airport transfer, in Xian a guide took us to the Terracotta Warriors and spent the day with us. <BR>All of the guides we met were extremely knowledgable and helpful. <BR>I found them through www.citsusa.com. <BR>I hope this helps you. <BR>Karen

Being a AAA providor just means that they provide over-riding commissions to AAA ... suggest you shop around with other large tour operators for China to get a good rate with decent service (e.g. Pacific Delight, Japan and Orient).

We just returned from China with a TBI tour and it was very well done. Ours was escorted, but every detail was taken care of and well-organized. We would definitely use them again. And the price was a good value.
