***PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL YOUR TRIP***
I've just returned from a 17 day trip to Thailand. My in-laws were on Phi Phi Island when the tidal waves struck, thank God they're ok. The Thais and their government are doing all they can to help foreigners with whatever they need to get home. I was extremely impressed with the way the locals helped out my in-laws - there were volunteers picking up tourists from the pier in Phuket to wherever they needed to go-airport, get cash, passports, etc. None of them accepted cash when offered. All of them pleaded for tourists to come back. Please check out sawadee.com for a statement before cancelling your trip. Go and enjoy yourself in the beautiful country of Thailand.
