how to get to Hunan Province
I am traveling soon to China, adopting a child in Hunan Province. I'd like to get there from U.S. to Beijing on Continental Airline. Should I fly to Shanghai or Guangzhou from Beijing? Which airlines would I fly with? thanks

You can fly non-stop to various airports in Hunan province from Beijing. No need to go to Shanghai or Guangzhou.
There are about 7 daily flights from Beijing to Changsha, the capital city, on Air China, China Southern or Hainan. Any of them is fine. Some flights leave pretty late, so you can make same day connection from your inbound US flight.
On Tue and Sat, there's a late non-stop flight to Changde on Hainan Airlines.
And if you're going to the more remote Western Hunan, there about 6 daily flights to Zhangjiajie - a famous national park - on the same three airlines.
Only consider Guangzhou if you're going to very southern Hunan. And there's no reason to fly to Shanghai.
