How to get a good fare from Narita to China?
Hi,
I have to flight from NRT to Beijing or Shanghai. However, Japan and ANA[s fares seems to high (above US$1,000.00) how to get a decent fare? Which airlines do I have to look at? Am I going to pay a higher fare from NRT to China, than my transpacific flight? thanks for your comments and guidance...

Published fares are high. Discount fares, available in Japan, are much more reasonable. The month of February's lowest fares are in the 20,000 yen roundtrip range. I use www.tour.ne.jp - but there is no English version, which could be a problem if you don't read Japanese. If you can manage a bit of Japanese, you could probably book online there, but be very careful about terms, conditions and restrictions of the fares you buy. You could try calling some of the agents that specialize in serving foreigners, like HIS or No. 1 Travel, but they seldom have the lowest prices...though they are lower than published fares.
What about buying a single ticket from the US with a stopover in Japan? With many fare classes, a stopover is allowed for little or no extra.

Thanks KimJapan por your response. The problem is that we aready have the US-NRT tickets so we cannot use Japan as a stopover. Regarding HIS and No.1 Travel, where can I find phones on these agents? Regarding your comment on reading japanese, as of today consider the japenese writing as and art not a language (aka no clue). thks.

I had the same problem a few months ago as I tried to seperate my flights for various reasons. What I found was that the one way flight from my home to pek thru nrt was the same prices as nrt to pek. Don't know why.
If you have any miles on any airline frequent flier program that is flying the nrt/pek portion you might try getting a ticket that way.
Aloha!

You already have USA-NRT-USA tickets, ok, but that doesn't mean that you can't get a USA-NRT-China-USA ticket.
You might have to pay a penalty to change your existing ticket to one to China with a NRT stopover but that might be less expensive than buying a second ticket.
