How about these hotels, as far as those used by pkg. tours go?

One tour co. uses the hotels on the first list; the other uses those on the 2nd. Star level ratings are listed as shown in the intinerary info. & are not always the same as on other websites, though. . Any real difference in overall quality between the 2 lists?

1st List::

Crowne Plaza Shanghai 4* .

Xian Jianguo Hotel 4*

Guilin Park Hotel 4*

No overnt. in Yangshuo

2nd List:

Riverview Hotel (Shanghai) 4*

Doubletree by Hilton, Beijing 5*

Empark Grand Hotel (Xi'an) 5*

Royal Garden Hotel (Guilin) 5*

New West Street Int'l. Hotel (Yangshuo) 5* (a few unflattering reviews on this one!)

Any opinions re: the pros and cons of any of these hotels?

Thanks for any input.

I think you may have wrong info on the hotels on you second list. this is what it states on their hotels:

Marriott City Wall, Beijing
Pullman Shanghai
Garden Hotel Suzhou - reviews are so so
Xian Grand Noble Hotel
Hangzhou West Lake Golden Plaza Hotel - which is around a 10 minute walk to the lake.

Remember that 5^ hotel in the US are probably 4 star in China.

IMO - their hotels look good to me. Granted that they are not the Ritz Carlton or Peninsula, but seem to be very high rated hotels nevertheles.

Hope this helps. I think you will be fine with whichever tour you decide to take

Hi again flgirl0917. I think we must not be looking at the same company's website because I just rechecked the itinerary for the tour we are considering and the hotels are definitely the ones on my List 2. At first I thought we must not be looking at the same itinerary, but the hotels you listed weren't the other itineraries, either. Did you get your hotel list sent to you after you booked or something? Or perhaps it will show some other ones when we actually go to complete our reservation online? If that is the case, it may well be that they have switched the hotels from what they show online.

I think their hotels all seem fine in the pictures and in their descriptions. However, that last one has some unusually poor customer ratings. The people we know who did this tour last Nov. liked the hotels, though I don't know if they were the same ones. I'm sure we will be fine.

Thanks again!

Don`t suggest the Doubletree by Hilton, Beijing, far from everything.
Hilton at Wangfujing much much better.

Violet, that's what I figured w/regard to that particular hotel. I did read some reviews just now, though, and peple really seem to like it a lot.

Thanks a lot for the info.!

Hi again. I think we may looking at a different tour company. In any event, I'm sure that whichever tour you decide the hotels will be fine.
