Does anyone have a favorite hotel in Matsumoto to recommend?

I recommend the Matsumoto Marunouchi hotel. It’s a mid-range hotel that is comfortable and just steps from the castle - it couldn’t be better located. The room was comfortable if just a tiny bit quirky with surprisingly few outlets to plug our chargers, but really, small gripes for an otherwise excellent hotel.

A substantial mixed Asian & western breakfast buffet is served in a large event space. The staff were very helpful in giving us suggestions for restaurants and taking care of other arrangements, like luggage forwarding and calling a cab for us.

Overall, we were happy with the hotel and the location couldn’t be better. I much prefer it over the hotels nearer the train station.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply, Progol!. Matsumoto was a last minute idea for us, and we're down to the wire trying to find a room for a couple of nights. Will be checking out the Matsumoto Marunouchi Hotel forthwith.
