Hot new restaurants and bars in Bangkok
Someone gave me an article last night that talks about some of the newer chic/hip spots. In addition to the ones we already know about like Bed, Face and Mahanaga here are the ones they suggest:
Bars:
Bacchus - "fabulous wine bar/lounge"
Mystique- "throbbing dance club
Glow - "jetrosexual DJ hangout"
Restaurants
Cy'an in the Metropolitan Hotel--"hottest reservation in town"
D'Sens - "sexy. modern french cuisine

Laurie -- I asked the same question and so far the best anyone has come up with is that it is the new word for jet - setter. I think (or was told) it was coined originally by the man who owns Virgin Atlantic.

jetrosexual..that's pretty funny. It was coined by Virgin which likes to market itself as the hip airline. It is a play on words..started with "metrosexual" term which we NY'ers are too familiar with (straight men who get facials/eyebrows tweezed). Apparently metrosexuals are "so late year" and "ubersexuals" now rule (macho modern men). It's a pr game..the word spawns the trend or vice versa...

I guess I'll keep my husband, who is just plain old heterosexual!
I know that Richard Branson likes to think Virgin Atlantic is hip, but I've flown them and it's just a plain old airline, at least in economy. They do give out cool amenity packs though. (oh my, does using the word "cool" keep me from being any of those new descriptions? Guess I'll just have to be content with being an aging hippie).
