Looking for name of private driver in Hong Kong to tour island.

I would ask your hotel to arrange this, or take a look at the website for the Hong Kong tourist board at http://www.discoverhongkong.com/login.html. You might also run a google search.

That being said, a tour of Hong Kong by car is not a good way to see the city or the island, as you will miss most of the best parts, IMO, which are either inaccessible to cars, or cannot be appreciated from a car. Other than a few temples, there are very few actual tourist sites where you can get out of the car and go see a site and then move on. Things like the skyline from the Esplande on the Kowloon side, the Star Ferry ride between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui, the Peak Tram or the great loop around the Peak on Lugard Road cannot be done with a car. A car ride over to Repulse Bay, Stanley or Shek O beach will not give you any where near the same views (or thrills) as you will get from the second floor of the double decker buses. You will also miss the interesting neighborhoods around Soho and the Wan Chai areas which really have to be explored on foot. If you only have only a limited time, I could suggest a brief tour using a combination of Peak Tram, Star Ferry, your feet, a taxi, and if time permits the buses to the southside of the island.

Hong Kong is extremely easy to navigate on your own, signage is in English, buses are very cheap as are taxis. The main downtown area is quite small and easy to get around, and a car would in fact be a liability as traffic can be quite bad and there is no street parking at all, it is all underground. The main sightseeing area on the Kowloon side is not more than ½- mile in length along the harbour from the Star Ferry and is very walkable.

I absolutely agree, I would not get a private driver for Hong Kong. Walk, ride the ferry, the tram, the subway. It's easy and it's cheap.

No boudecca don't do it. If you are able to get around on your own do so as it is easy to do and you will enjoy it so much more. It is a safe city with lots to see. Enjoy that fabulous place!

Here'a another vote against touring by car. Traffic is abysmal and you risk wasting a lot of time. A guide, however, might be a good idea if you are not comfortable exploring on your own. But, as noted by others, it is pretty easy to navigate around HK on your own. Due to the years of British occupation the signage is in English in the vast majority of places, and in all the places you would probably want to visit. Get an octopus card and use public transport - it's great!

Yeah here is another vote! Don't tour in Hong Kong by car, as you probably will run into traffic congestion, that will be miserable to got stuck in the congestion. And Hong Kong is not big at all, everywhere is accessible by MTR (the tube in HK) or ferry or bus etc. And if you go by car, you may miss the tram to the Peak or ferry which the view is simply great. Save your money for shopping

Years ago we visited friends that lived in Kowloon. They had a car, and they took us out into the new territories. The car was handy for that as we got to see more with a personal driver. Other than that we walked and used the tram, the MTR and the ferries.

We have been back several times on our own and haven't found a need for a car.
