HK - Easter and Cheung Chau

Many thanks to all the people who have posted recently about Hong Kong. We are visiting there soon and I am just starting to get "in the mood"!

A couple of questions to the experts:
- Is Easter a big holiday in HK? We are staying on the Island for the Easter period. Will everywhere be really busy (more than usual!), will some places be closed, or is it business as usual?

- We are hoping to spend a couple of days on Cheung Chau island, staying in one of the beachside apartments. Any recommendations or suggestions? This is the chill-out part of the trip.

Thanks in advance!
Business will be as usual here in HK during Easter, except 4-day public holiday (29/3 to 1/4). The only concern I can think of is the closure of banks during the above holiday. Most shops or tourist sights will be as usual.

My family and I will be visiting Hong Kong during Easter Week. I did not know that 29/3-1/4 is a public holiday in Hong Kong. Will I be able to cash my traveler's checks on these days?

Also, would you recommend cash or traveler's checks in Hong Kong?

29/3-1/4 is referring to March 29th thru April first. I also am travelling the same time as you are. Which city are you from?

March 29 to April 1 will be holidays in HK, but everything will remain open as usual, except offices and banks. Nothing to worry about.

Am traveling on Pacific Delight tour...3/25-4/1...Fort Lauderdale to Newark then non-stop to Hong Kong on Continental. Fantastic rate..$650 for air, six nights 4 star hotel, and tours. Can't beat that!
From March 29 to April 1 is the public holidays in hongkong. All business will stay as usaul except the banks will not open. I suggest you to withdraw cash from PLUS or CIRRRUS ATM instead of carrying travellers'check. Although the hotels may exchange for the travellers check, but I think the exchange rate will not be good.Since many Hong kong people will go to mainland China during the holidays, it may be a good time to travel to Hong kong AS the city will be less crowed and busy. However, Cheung Chau may be a little bit crowed as people may go there for holidays.
