Hikari bullet train Osaka to Tokyo
Hi! We will be traveling Osaka to Tokyo by Hikari Shinkansen using the JR pass. But, not really sure in what station we could take the train. Where is the nearest station that we could catch the train if we are staying near Momodani station? Does the train have a schedule by the hour? Thanks in advance!

Have you searched for train schedule at HyperDia | ???? ???? ??? ???? ??? ??????? at all?
Enter MOMODANI in the FROM field, and TOKYO in the TO field, choose your date/time, use the "More Options" link to uncheck NOZOMI , Sleeper Train, Private Railway etc.
The search results will give you several options.

You would use Shin-Osaka. Scroll down at the link below, change the date and time, and then click Search.
Click on "Interval Timetable" on one of the results and you will see the timetable for the day between those stations.

This is easy to handle - there is only one train station in Osaka where you can catch the shinkansen. The station is Shin-Osaka, which is named such because it has the shinkansen train (see also, Shin-Kobe) and is not the main train station in Osaka (that would be Osaka station). A quick look at the shinkansen timetables would have told you this.

irenyka - in addition to your Osaka - Tokyo trip on the Shinkansen, are you travelling elsewhere in Japan? If you're flying into Osaka (KIX) and then taking the train to Tokyo, a JR Pass (minimum cost 7 day standard class = ¥29,110) will not be cost-effective versus simply buying a single Shinkansen ticket Shin-Osaka - Tokyo (¥14,450). The JR Pass will only pay for itself if you take additional train trips (such as a return to Osaka from Tokyo or trips from Osaka to Himeji, Okayama, Hiroshima etc.).
