Hakone or Hiroshima/Miyajima overnight with teenagers?

I am so undecided here - we are staying in Tokyo for 5 nights (with day trips) and Kyoto for 4 nights and I'm trying to decide between Hakone or Hiroshima/Miyajima for an overnight stay with 2 teenage girls.
(We will not stay in a ryokan (unfortunately!) as I don't think they will appreciate the meals and it's just too expensive with them.)
I am worried that in Hakone, we won't see Mt Fuji (seems to be rare) and there is too much nature for teenagers, and not much else to do. They won't be interested in onsen at all.
We WERE going to do a day trip to Hiroshima from Kyoto, but it seems it's a 2 hr trip one way, the museum and Peace Park (a must for all of us) and it would be a shame not to go to Miyajima while we are so close.
I have been fixated on Hakone so long...,and only now thinkingI may be making the wrong decision. We go end Sept.
Any thoughts?
Suggestions on places to stay Miyajima where we can take the girls to a restaurant?
thanks

What time of year will you be traveling and what is your budget range for accommodations? Will you have a JR Pass?

Don't worry Hakone, Hiroshima or Miyajima rarely disappoint anyone. So much to do in each place.

Your daughters will be in a foreign country, just about everything from the time they arrive will be new and fascinating.

Aloha!
