Will be spending two nights in Delhi at end of three-week trip. I have Marriott points and thought I'd use them at Courtyard Gurgaon, which looks pretty nice, rather than spend real money for hotel in center. I know Gurgaon is a bit far out, but it is on metro line straight shot to Old Delhi and CP, so I thought I could metro in for sightseeing one day, then maybe hire a car the next. Question is this: is Gurgaon too far to use as a base for Delhi? Also, is Gurgaon itself at all "interesting?" Thanks.

I have stayed there a couple of times, it's an upscale courtyard with a good restaurant.

No, its not too far and the yellow line connecting it would take you straight to Connaught Place. It is just not interesting at all unless you like fancy, new-age restaurants. It has got almost zero sightseeing unless you count the malls. The Courtyard is quite decent and serves good food. I prefer the Park Plaza in the business side of hotels in Gurgaon, but the Courtyard Marriott is not too far behind.

Thanks for the feedback; I've gone ahead and booked a room! I take the point that Gurgaon itself is not so interesting so next question is how best to use two days sightseeing time. Don't wish/need to cover everything or rush from must-see sight to sight -- maybe just have a look at Rajpath and big sights in New Delhi, visit Humayan's Tomb, rickshaw and walk through Old Delhi, then wander a bit around Connaught Place or wherever. Perfectly comfortable using metro and cabs/tuk tuks, and hotel car at Rs 4000+ for a day seems a bit high. If I take metro to Connaught Place, for example, should I easily be able to get taxis to take me around from place to place? Thanks again. (PS, found the "tushky" blogs helpful!).

Most metro stops have tuk-tuk stands right next to them so you should be able to get around. The Yellow line would take you near Qutab Minar too in case you want to put that in. That and Humayun's tomb are my two favorite spots.

CP has some interesting food options like United Coffee House and Embassy. Its also near the National Museum which is quite good.
