Groups tours during summer in southern India

My friend and I are in our mid-late 20's, and we're interested in doing a group tour of India over our summer vacation. Does anyone know of any India tours 7-14 days long? We're vegetarian, so we think we may prefer southern India as well. Many thanks!

Hi, we have travelled with
http://imaginative-traveller.com/
twice now and find them to be very good. Small group tours and they have some good tours to all of India..We just did a Kerala tour in November 2005..However, I don't know if weather wise the summer months is a good time to travel to India, too hot and monsoons...

Hi, Rubies-
I just returned from a wonderful trip through Intrepid Travel. I would highly recommend them.

Go with a customised tour. Vegetarian in India is no problem, north or south, half of India is veg! In the summer I'd say try to focus on coller climate places. Do you want TA recos?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It's looking like the south may be too humid and rainy, so we may focus on the north.

hobbes: sure!

We used a Delhi based agency, President Travels, [email protected]. I reco makign your plans thru an agency esp for a short trip as u can get more done when everything is booked ahead. I agree the North may be a better option. Consider Ladakh - Leh is open for only 4 months annually and is said to be the closest thing to Heaven. You could also cosnider the north East i.e. Darjeeling, Gangtok, Shillong.
