Getting to Hualamphong

We are staying at the Center Pointe Silom and will be taking the 8:30 train to Chiang Mai. I am wondering the best way for us to get to the station. Should we try to arrange for a driver (any ideas?) or should we take the skytrain? We travel pretty light usually (a wheeled carry on and a tote that fits on top), so we won't be shlepping a lot of luggage. Happy for any suggestions. Only three more weeks and we will be in Thailand! Can't wait!

Take the Skytrain and connect to the Metro (subway)--it puts you out right under Hualamphong. We did this when we caught our overnight train to CM--so simple to do!
You'll also be astonished at how spotless the Metro is.

Thanks - sounds like an easy thing to take the skytrain and subway so we will do that. Any idea how much time to allow to get there?

Silom road and Hualamphong station are very close so a taxi ride will cost close to nothing, perhaps the meter will not even move!

Thanks - that might be easier for us. How bad will the traffic be at about 7 in the morning?

Not too bad at 7am perhaps a 5 or 10 minutes taxi ride at the most.

Cool! I think we have a plan. I am getting SO excited about this trip. And everything is coming together so well because of the advice on this board.
