From Saigon to Thailand islands

We are finishing our two weeks trip in Vietnam in Saigon and looking for the best way to go from there to one of the islands in Thailand. We are a family of four (2 teens). Which Island is best for us for relaxing and can we fly directly from Saigon without going through Bangkok?

Haven't checked flights yet but the island would very much depend upon the time of year you are going. When do you go?

Thanks Fiona. If there is no direct flight, maybe someone knows of a way to get from Saigon to Koh Samui by ferry or boat?

No such ferry route exist - Ho Chi Minh city to Koh Samui and no direct commercial air service either.

Only one airline fly into Samui and that's Bangkok Air.

Only way you can go direct is to charter your own plane or boat!
