Bob,

We were docked at Incheon from 7am-5pm on our RTW trip in March. We took the subway from downtown Incheon to Seoul and did a walking/taxi tour on our own. Went to the Palace and to the National Folk Museum. Then we walked to a nearby shopping area that was nice, antiques, food and crafts, and took a taxi to the old huge outdoor market which was wild.

If you want more details on our day with pictures of the sites, go to our trip report:

www.aroundtheworldin132days.blogspot.com

click on March on the righthand side and scroll down to Mon, March 9.

The one thing my husband wanted to do was the tour to the DMZ, but the site wis closed on Mon, the day we were there. But if that is of interest to you, I did read that the airport offers a day tour to people with layover time during the day. It is roundtrip from the airport and I read some good reviews of the tour.

Have Fun!

With 24 hours why don't you do a DMZ tour?

I'm not sure you will have time for a DMZ tour. If your flight leaves at 5 PM, you probably need to be at the airport at 3, which means you will need to leave the DMZ no later than 1, and likely even earlier.

There might be a DMZ transit tour offered by the airport that fits with your schedule. I'm pretty sure it would not include Panmunjeom, though.

Also, DMZ tours can get canceled at the last minute (at least the ones that go to Panmunjeom). When I was there we looked into doing a USO tour that was scheduled/advertised, and the office said it had been canceled by the people at the DMZ (for meetings or something like that). This was only a couple of days before the tour was supposed to go.
