That's why this board is here!!! We all learn from your questions and the answers you receive. If we found it boring...we would not be checking in.

Hi Bob-I've sent you an email. You helped me with Yangon so happy to return the favour.

I do agree with Mincepie but I'm very happy to help anyway I can. People here have been very generous sharing their knowledge with me so whatever way (public or private) you prefer to correspond, is OK by me. There are local Indians like rajhelp and agtoau who may be better suited to answer questions about mid-range accom than me. We did both trips on the cheap with the occasional 3,4 & 5 star thrown in, when we could afford it. Anyway, the ball is in your court. All the best!

Hope no one minds coming in on this one just to say Bob that there has been a real 'surge' in flights from USA direct into India, the CO to Delhi non-stop, Jet Airways starting soon(JFK), plus KLM has increased their flights including non stop from AMS to Hyderabad, I think KLM has direct from BOS and also as you know they are NW partner so great for air miles.

JamesA,

I hear from sources in the airline business that by the year end, a significant increase in the number of flights to/from USA and India is expected, and that this will perhaps bring down the prices of air tickets. Currently Lufthansa is enjoying a sort of monopoly as witness the high prices they charge.

Lyndie-ji, I am an Indian (Goa-born and bred) but I am currently not 'local,' unless you consider Silicon Valley in California as 'local.'

Apologies agtoau-I had it in my mind that you lived in Miramar. I wish I was in India right this minute. We are so very close to deciding on a semi-permanent move to India. Manali in the summer & Panjim or Chennai for the winter. Will let you know! Oh the food, the people, the food, the smells, the chaos. I miss it so much! I hope Sri Lanka offers us as much as India has given us! All the best!
