Fodor's Boston GTG

The Fodor's Boston GTG will be held September 16 and 17, 2016 in Portland, Maine. The Kimball's have been very gracious in the past to host these events in Boston and after talking to them about a different location they agreed it might be fun on anther New England City. My name is Benita and I will be hosting this year under the Kimball's expert guidance.

If you are traveling to New England this fall, we would love to have new and old Fodorites attend this fun event. The main GTG will be Saturday, September 17th around 11 a.m. for socializing before the luncheon. Details will follow on the location. For those of you who would like to attend the entire weekend, there will be plans for Friday and Saturday evenings.

Portland is a wonderful city on Casco Bay with lovely boutiques and award winning restaurants. Many of these serve fresh boiled lobsters, lobster rolls, fried clams, mussels and oysters on the half shell. The Town of Freeport is 25 minutes away with shopping outlets and the original LL Bean store.

We are planning to stay at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks in South Portland, Maine. Telephone number 1 (207) 871-8000. Prices are $169 and up. There is plenty of free parking on the property. Please make your reservations as soon as possible as this is the start of leaf peeping season in New England. The waterfront in Portland is about a 15 minute drive from the hotel.

Please let me know if you are planning on attending as soon as possible as I need an attendee count for restaurants or if you have any questions you may e-mail me at [email protected].

Hoping to see lots of old and new Fodor's friends and I look forward to welcoming you to Lobster Land.

Benita

I've booked a room. Here's hoping I can actually make it there for the GTG.

I've always wanted to attend an east coast GTG and this one just might work out for me. Won't know for sure until about the beginning of July (I'm returning from the UK on Aug 25 and not sure if I can arrange another trip so soon)

You might want to post this in the Lounge too . . .

HT, tell Ken about the GTG. We'd love to see him again.
Have fun in Europe. Is that with Bob and Karen?

Benita Karen, I for one am anxious to attend the Portland Gtg! Hoping you are not feeling overwhelmed with the whole ordeal. Should we be getting any of the venue plans you might have arranged?

I encourage anyone who has been hesitant to attend one of these get togethers (GTG) to bite the bullet. It is such a terrific group of worldly travelers!

Thanks for the reply rhkkmk. See you there (just AFTER I return from my latest BKK trip which I just booked a couple of hours ago).

So looking forward to Portland!
