Flight connection Kathmandu-New Delhi-Paris-(Montreal)

So I made a little goof in my fllght bookings, and now that I have calmed down(!!), I have a question

I am particularily neurotic when it comes to being on time for flights, and give myself ample time to get to the airport

Which is why I booked an overnight in New Delhi after our arrival from Kathmandu and before the long flight home the following day at midnight... and I actually had a late checkout from the wonderful hotel all arranged

However the midnight flight home the next day is actually midnight the same day-as the flight is actually at 00:30 am(the next calender day)

So..

IF.....Air India is on time in arriving from Kathmandu at 11:30 am, we should probably
be okay.........

Or is this really a blessing in disguise? (ie-this should have been the plan all along?)

But what if Air India is delayed....and I miss my flight home-not on Air India...

Or , is this me at my neurotic best?

What do you suggest?

You are worrying about making a 13-hour connection. You hava a backup flight later in the day that gives a 7+ hour connection.

For reference next time, once I enter the airport of departure, I keep flying until I've reached my home airport. Hanging around for many hours in transit lounges may, for worrywarts, be less stressful than entering another country for a brief hotel stay, then going through all the security hassles of checking in again to continue the trip.
When the connection is tight rather than long, it is again an advantage to be standing beside the airline staff when bad news arrives. Then they have to find the hotel room etc. for a delaly.
In my somewhat weary experience, picking a more expensive itinerary with better connections will be cheaper on the aggrevation scale, and maybe even financially depending on what other expenses you incur during a long wait. Plus your luggage will have a better chance of arriving home when you do.

Good news!
Problem is solved as I was able to fix the goof!!! and change the return flight home

So we no longer have a 13 hour layover and will be able to arrive at the airport normally after our late checkout at our hotel
