FLASH--- rhk's to try ROS again

sit down, don't faint..... we have "pulled the trigger" to quote a famous fodors poster... we will conclude our upcoming asia trip with a two night stay at the fabled royal orchid sheraton hotel on the river in bangkok....

currently they are offering a rare, for them, cash and points option (2800 pts plus $45.) so we decided that we will do a comparison stay again..... rarely do they offer this option at this property... it is almost always offered at other bangkok starwood sites, but rarely at ROS.... some of you may remember our last stay (to date it, we watched reagan's funeral during our stay), when we were driven out of the hotel one day by the overpowering fumes caused by some construction within the hotel....

on this visit we are expecting nothing of that kind, but rather an abudance of the hospitality that kathie, gpanda and many others always speak of.... if this does not materialize we will blame them for a ruined SEA vacation---remember this is our last two nights.....haha...

the gpandas will probably be in residence as well, so this will give me something to harang him about if it is not 110% perfect....

I think you should have no hesitation whatsoever in trying this place. Think about it---considering Gpanda has stayed there, you & Karen will look normal and friendly by comparison!

Thanks HT...glad you said it and NOT me. Looking forward to our time at the ROS...esp if the pandas join us...or we join them...what ever. Bob's only real objection to the ROS was, the unbearable smell of varnish that was in our room all day into the early evening, and the managements lack of concern or willingness to move us to another unsmelly room...aka no GM falling all over us.

I don't know the current GM, just the Towers Manager. I quickly emailed her about Bob, which is how she came up with the blood sample idea. If Bob were bending her ear every moment, how would any of the rest of us get personalized service?

Bob doesn't just bend ears, he destroys the spirit of the GM's. On each of their faces, you can see them think, why do I have to be pleasnt to this idiot? If life were fair, I'd give him a decent tongue-lashing.

"I'd give him a decent tongue-lashing" - please excuse this non native English speaker but that sound pornographic to me!

Pook, sounds much worse than it actual is. Kind of the equivalent of "I'd give him a dressing down!". Sounds really smutty, is just loud and bothersome! (Touching is NOT involved, with tongue or anything else.)

Pook went to college in the US. He's just playing. Plus, the obsequious manner in which the GM's treat his Bobness does bring to mind the secondary meaning of tongue lashing. When they start to fall all over themselves, I want to puke. None of them have the guts to say "Sir, your petty complaint is wasting the time of my staff and me." Perhaps you could confine your criticism to items of actual imprt". Nope, not happening. If it did, I would fall over laughing and tip the entire staff very well.

Gpanda, you make me want to "shadow" you and His Bobness on this next trip just to see what would happen.

And yes, I know Pook is a sharp guy with an outstanding grasp of English. But posting as I did gave me the opportunity to use the term "dressing down", which I am rarely able to invoke.

This is obviously a troll post designed to stir up inane conversation about the "virtues" of said ROS. Bob (and Gpanda), you could at least spring for a Towers room as Kathie has been pushing it for the last 50 years - and we need someone to verify her reports...

As for "tongue-lashing" - I'm just not going to go there.

I've stayed in the Towers three times. My experience was very different from Kathie's. I never saw a butler. I received no special treatment whatsoever. No acknowedgement. We did like the lounge and went back for that. However, with cash and points we need to preserve our points so no Towers this time.

the ROS is so old that the towers have collapsed down into the main hotel and all but one room (suite--kathie's) have been relegated to the std room classification..... remember her room at the E&O in my most recent pics....
