Hi all I am planning on going to Singapore, then of to Thailand then fly home from Hong Kong. I have allocated 21 days for all three. Now my question is what is not to be missed?, what are some of the side trips? is it easy to get to all three?. also how many days in each place to really get an idea of the culture and sights. Any other things that I need to know will be of help. Thanks.

You should probably start with browsing a few guidebooks to see what interests you. Fodors, Frommers, Rough Guide, Lonely Planet, Insight Guides...all are good to get a good idea of what each place you are visiting has to offer.

You'll probably be best spending the bulk of your time in Thailand...it's the biggest of your destinations and you could easily spend 3 weeks there and only scratch the surface. With such a short time, I don't think you'll be able to really get an idea of the culture of three places, but you'll be able to see some sights and perhaps decide you'd like to make a return visit.

Well if money is a concern then Thailand is the cheapest place to visit of the three. You can find hotels in Thailand that have air, hot water, private toilet/shower, security box and clean up service starting around 600 baht on up to over 4000 baht per night if you really think you must spend more! Smaller towns and cities have cheaper hotels.________ I have flown to Singapore and to Hong Kong from Thailand several times, flights purchased in Thailand have been really cheap compared to purchasing those flights from overseas. Sometimes you can bundle a flight and hotel and save quite a bit of money!______What to do - read up on this area first! Pick a few choice areas to visit and fill in the spare time with what you interests you after you get there. Consider that Thailand has summer like warm weather all year long, even in Bangkok! Some tourist skip Bangkok and fly to "warm areas" for tans - don't have to! _____In Singapore take a side trip to Malacca, in Thailand Chiangmai is a nice trip, women seem to like it more than men. For party time in Thailand then hit Pattaya - cheap hotels, cheap transportation and good cheap restaurants - lots of bars too!_____In Hong Kong shop until you drop! Singapore and Hong Kong will not have too many cheap good hotels like Thailand! ______ Good luck.

of the 21 days i would allocate them something like this:

4 days to singapore and fly there first..

5 days to HK and finish there...

all the rest to thailand where i would spend 4 days initially in bkk, then go to a beach area for 4 days and 3 days in chiang mai...

in thailand there are many things to see but the major sites as found in any guidebook are the following:

bkk: grand palace, wat arun, wat pho, jim thompson house, klong (canal) tour by long tail boat, rides up and down the river area, shopping malls and markets....

beach areas: hua hin, pattaya/jontiem, phuket, krabi, phi phi, khao lak, koh samui, koh chang among others...

wow thanks for the great info. I am thinking may/june. What can I expect weather wise. What is the best mode of transportation between the three. One more thing I will be solo.

i too will be there for the months of may and june for the 3rd time actually...

i find that the mornings are bright and sunny and by noon or 1 it has turned cloudy (which is good cause it keeps the temps down).... so beach and swimming activities are best to do in the AM...
the afternoon continues cloudy and then sometimes there is a shower at 4-5 or even a downpour which might last for minutes or and hour or two....and by 8 it is all over and decent again...

Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong are some distance apart. Flying is your best option unless you have lots of time...
