Hi

My wife and I went to Japan last year. We visited places like Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Himeji etc and I have posted a trip report with pictures and links on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/japan_tokyo.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there

Regards
Gard

I think your teen would enjoyed the Toei Eigamura in Kyoto. The place consists of various film sets of what you see in the samurai tv and movie dramas, with people dressed up in full samurai costume and makeup. You can take photos with the samurai "actors" and also go onto the film sets and photograph yourself. It's like going back in time and walking into a town of the old samurai days.

Gard, loved your trip report...thank you...I just skimmed it this first time but will have to go back over it more closely as it contains lots of helpful information. Found it interesting that you're from Norway...we live in the Washington,DC area and visited Norway summer 2004. Loved Bergen and Alesund, especially and were also very interested in the WWII stuff. You Norwegians were very, very heroic!
