Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Logistics
Hi Everyone,
You'd think every India question has been answered already, but I couldn't find specifics about Fatehpur Sikri:
1) how many hours should we plan to stay at F.S.? (we'll arrive to Agra from Delhi in the morning and stay in Agra that night).
2) where did you get food for lunch while at F.S.?
3) any "gee, I wish I knew that ahead of time" tips about this route?
We'll do Agra the next day. I found Cicerone's Old Agra info and hotel info if Taj View and Moghul Sheraton are still recommended.
If all goes well, we'll be there in December.
Thank you.

FS is about 45 minutes from Agra - plan on 2 hours there. It is on the way to Jaipur so you have to go through Agra from Delhi to get there. Not sure if that is your plan. We drove from Delhi and did 2 nights Agra before heading on to Jaipur via FS.

We have to see family while there, so from Agra we'll go on to Kanpur. Time is tight because we're there only for 2 weeks (school vacations). My kids haven't seen much of Delhi so all of that is still available for the end of our trip. Jaipur will probably be another time.
Thanks for replying.

If you're going as a day trip from Agra, I'd allow an hour a half or two hours total of driving. This is basically a deserted town/fort. We found it really came alive through our guide's stories and descriptions of how it "was". If you like forts and such, two hours will be good, if you just want to quickly admire the architecture, probably an hour will be enough.
We'd had a big breakfast before heading to FS, so didn't check out the dining options in that area.
Are you taking the train or driving down from Delhi?

Hi lcuy, we haven't decided on train or car. I read it's 2 hours by a.m. train or about 4 hours by car. Open to suggestions based on others' experiences.
I appreciate the replies. I somehow though F.S. was an all day affair.
