Exploring Kolkata, India.

Here, i'm gonna share my experience about Kolkata.

Kolkata is a really big city and near about 60million people live here. I arrived India late night and went to hotel for the night stay and I met my indian friends and had a lunch with them. In Kolkata I was experienced some towns, streets, markets and much more. My first day in Kolkata, saw leather factory, the stuff is prepared from skins of cow, sheep etc. I took ideas from my Indian friends about what to do in Kolkata. My friends in Kolkata are amazing and we had an Indian lunch together. In lunch we're having Khichdi, Boiled eggs, Samosa, Butter Sandwich and eggplant butter. I am very privilaged and experienced good things.

My Second day in Kolkata was quite bad because I suffered from an eye allergies due to dust. I went to medical store for the Eye Drops and i was amazed that it was of Rs.150 which is about $2 and I rest all the day. People in India are very helpful.

My third day in Kolkata was a bit good, I went to the markets and saw different things and the prices of goods are very less as I compared them with NZ dollars. My eyes were pained because of allergy but I still went to explore Kolkata by woring Sunglasses. While exploring markets, I went to a Electronics Market, which was quite different from the other markets. There was a different environment, lightings and other stuffs. After exploring the whole day, I went back to my hotel, and next morning I had to leave for DeLhi for my flight.

My experience was literally amazing and there is much more to explore. I hope I came back India as soon as possible and also hope that things would be quite differnet from now.

I hope you people like this post of mine and I will share my experiences about other places in India in my next post.
If anyone have any questions regarding this, you people can contact me.

A visit to Kolkata is an experience in itself! Kolkata has long been associated with British Raj and from here they actually spread the Imperial tentacles to the rest of the country. I would not hesitate to book up Oberoi Grand right on the Chowringhee. It was said what Bengal did today, the rest of the country did the next day!! A place full of cultural rendezvous...I do not think anywhere else in India books are given in dowry or a bride's merit judged from her prowess in singing, dancing and culinary skills!
There is plenty to see & visit in Kolkata. You could start your day from the Heritage zone, paying tribute to the 19th century Dak-runner, clutching his spear & mail-bag.Or you could visit the Ghats of the Hooghly from across the Howrah Bridge and watch the skyline across the river, the flower market and the Goenka zenana etc.etc. etc.
The Bengali cuisine with mustard oil as a cooking medium may be best sampled at the Bhojohari Manna, a very reasonably priced restaurant & try some Bhetki Paturi (fish done in Banana leaf) or a bowl of Mishti Doi or sweatened yoghurt!
For those members of the NRA in the US, what a delight it could be to visit some of the oldest gunshops who still have showrooms in the city and to spot an old immaculately oiled double coming from such famous names as The Boss or a Purdey or a Joseph Manton!
Happy travels!
