your annual membership in DAN provides you with evac ins. based on your registration for it and the payment of an annual fee of about $45-55...

this is not their insurance add on protections but is part of your annual membership benefits...

However, all evacuation insurance is not created equal. DAN told me that they would get me to the nearest hospital, period. I have used tenweb.com and am using Liaison Traveler for my current trip (I need more than 90 days) and both will get me home after treatment. You also need to consider whether you just want the nearest hospital, or a hospital near your home after you're stabilized.

They told me they would get me to the nearest appropriate hospital (a different beast than the nearest hospital). I know someone DAN med evac'd from Nepal to Bangkok, for instance.
