The problem is that without a real appreciation of how you get sick, many people fail to make the appropriate risk assessments regarding food.
There ae several bits of advice (like peeling fruit and ice caves) which in themselves are probably useful however to infer that by doing that you'll be "safe" is going too far.
Learn to appreciate how food is processed, stored, prepared and served and then you wil be able to make a much better decision as to what to eat.
You cannot be immune to most major bacteria that cause food poising.
Imposing western ideas of "hygiene" is not productive.....as often the cooking of small chopped items will kill a lot of bacteria that make you sick.
Above all don't loo at "western" food as a safe haven.
