you can contact her at [email protected]. It's off season so she may be available. If you do use her say hi to her from Gloria and tell her I'm looking forward to seeing her again in January.

I don't use a driver in Bangkok, so see what you think once you get there. I find it easiest to take transportaion that is most convenient (water taxis, skytrain, subway, taxis). You can always find a driver once you get to Bangkok. Your hotel can recommend someone if you decide you need a driver.

You do need a driver if you want to do things out of the city and you pay a lot more through a hotel or travel agent. Plus you can end up with someone who will take you to every shopping oportunity they can find in the hopes of getting a commission. I loved having someone whom I knew was not going to try to do that.

Like the commercial asks... "Got Milk" well.... take our advice- Get Ratt.
In the heat and humidity of Bangkok- you will save time and a lot of energy if Ratt is ferrying you around the city.
You will be able to do and see more this way. She is inexpensive and worth every nickle-in addition she can get you a 5% discount at the Nara Phand Government craft store- you must go here as they have really nice quality stuff.

I also agree that having an airconditioned car and someone with cold water waiting after being out in the heat and humidity is fabulous. It may take a bit more time than the skytrain but I find that I am able to do more because the heat doesn't zap all my energy.

you do not necessarily need someone within the city as you can do this on your own...it is nice to have the a/c car there and cold water waiting however....by this i mean your trip is not ruined if noone is available for in town...you can do it on your own with some advance planning...
outside of town a driver is fabulous..
another guy we have used is somphet gunthon..cell phone # 0-6040-9893...he usually is found outside the marriott resort and spa...he is young and very nice....you have to be specific with all of these poeple as to exactly what you want to do...less with ratt....i usually give them a wish list and they arrange how to do it...

We used Julie's taxi when we were in BKK in November and our driver was Emma, who was great and we used her several times. Our hotel (the Oriental) called Julie's taxi company the first time for us (they referred to her as the lady's taxi service) because I didn't the number with me and after that I got in touch with them directly through Emma's cell phone.
