The cur was an enigma! I am saddened to hear he has gone to the Happy Hunting Grounds. Indeed, this forum would not be the same. His insights were fantastic, his language so colourful and won't hesitate to call a spade!!
What was his real name?
"Thou wast not born for death, immortal Bird!
No hungry generations tread thee down;
The voice I hear this passing night was heard
In ancient days by emperor and clown:
Perhaps the self-same song that found a path
Through the sad heart of Ruth, when, sick for home,
She stood in tears amid the alien corn;
The same that oft-times hath
Charm'd magic casements, opening on the foam
Of perilous seas, in faery lands forlorn" - John Keats.

He was so entertaining and gifted with his words. He was Nigel Triffet, of "Tap Dogs" fame. A few of us were lucky enough to meet him and spend precious time together talking travel.

He was very well known in his field. My wife and I and Fodors member Sassafrass and her hubby met him on the Constellation in 2011 and yes he was very special. He designed the closing act of the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics.

Off to India on June 12th without the guiding hand and spirit of wonderful, maddening Dogster. He'll be on my radar.
