Discount airfare within Asia
I'm trying to find a place to book discount airfare from Hong Kong to Bangkok, round trip. I've checked the conventional sources (travelocity, expedia, etc.) and I'm coming up with really high fares ($500+). The only fare I'm finding at a lower price is on Emirates ($257 on UAL's site) but I'd really like to book the Finn Air flight which is coming up at $592. I've also checked on Cathay's website and that's coming up high.

Someone on Lonely Planet directed me to www.tiglion.com which has the FinnAir flight for HK 1780 (about $228). Has anyone used them to book airfare?

Any other resources out there that you've used successfully?

Thanks!

I think of the possiblility of cheaper airfares would be advertised in newspaper, so i would suggest you log into the english paper in HK, and you would definitely find a section of travel in it such as Southern China post. However, the last fare you mentioned is quite cheap.

Try Cathay Pacific again--they currently have their Circle Asia on sale and if you're going to travel in Asia Cathay Pacific is choice number 1 followed by Singapore Air. (after all why put up with a crate full of chickens in the seat next to you on some 3rd world airline? just kidding)
Thanks for the replies!

Cathay is getting lower and their routes are better and more frequent but they are still at HK2390 (around $300US)

www.wingontravel.com which was recommended to me on another travel board has a Finn Air flight for HK1500 ($192 US) which I think I'm going to book, don't think I'm going to find it much cheaper than that.

Thanks for the tip on Priceline, Helen, I didn't know that it existed. I'm a bit nervous to try Priceline.com.hk for flights but I did use it to book one of my hotels. The problem with Priceline.com.hk is that there's only a small amount of feedback on their equivalent of www.biddingfortravel.com (and there may be restrictions because I'm a US resident)

http://pub34.ezboard.com/bpricelineasiadiscussions

Have you tried poking around www.asiatravelmart.com? I've looked at prices there but never booked. The problem is, you look in their great deals section (if they still do that) but you start to have your doubts whether you can actually get those prices... but worth a look. Good luck.
