Sorry to slack off! Glad to know some are following along. We returned from Hong Kong and went out to see friends on Saturday night. Fun time.

Monday was a business lunch and then time for laundry and packing to switch hotels.

Monday I checked out of Adelphi and friends Lars and Pong took Lat and me to lunch in their new Benz. I left my suitcases at Adelphi and we went to Zanotti. I had never been there before, that I could remember. Nice place. Lars (a fabulous cook) assured me that I could get a good pizza, so that's what I ordered. It was a disappointing pizza. Very doughy. Lars tried a slice and agreed. He said I should try another time and maybe would be pleased. I will give them another chance. Maybe in December. Now, the tira misu was awesome!

Next stop, Hemingway's. Great place, great atmosphere, good cold beer (and food, which we didn't eat). The location is soi 14, a very short walk from Terminal 21. I just might go back to this place for food before heading home. We'll see.

Back to Adelphi. Lat had a flight to Udon at 6 so she caught a taxi to Don Muang and Lars and Pong and I sat atonsoon for a couple of hours, enjoying each other's company. We ended up ordering a Monsoon pizza, which was excellent!

We bid our goodbyes and I collected my luggage and got a taxi to Marriott soi 57. I stayed at the serviced apartments at this location right after it opened. This time I am at the hotel.

It's Tuesday morning and I am ready to try the executive lounge for breakfast.

Today I will head down to MBK and Paragon and Central World. I have some last minute items to get, including a cell phone case for my new smart phone. MBK has, by far, the best selection.

We'll catch up later!

I can report that the lounge is quite nice. More spacious than J W Hong Kong, and probably similar amount of food choices. Nice view. One wall is windows. 40th floor.

I have a room on one of the executive floors at Marriott. The room itself is not very spacious but the bed is very good for sleeping. I like lots of natural light and this room has a lot of it. Lots of windows. The bathroom is very large and has lots of windows as well. I have a nice soaking bathtub with a view! The loo also has a great view! The serviced apartments here on soi 57 are just the opposite. Very dark! Small windows! Ugh..... I much prefer the hotel (but I like having a washing machine, which the apartments do have).

I will try to go up to the rooftop bar. I was up there before, but the hotel was so new at that time that there was still construction going on. I believe they were building a sushi bar at the very top level of the rooftop bar. Will try to chack it out.

Chiang Mai has good pizzas.

A good bed is a must in a good hotel. I usually find beds to be too soft in many hotels.

Monsoon on soi 8 has just about the best pizza right now IMO.

A Thai friend and I ate at Hemingways on soi 14 last night. It was really good. I will for sure go back there. No Thai food. More Key West style I would say. The atmosphere is terrific! Also very good house red last night. If the weather is nice, this is a good place to dine outside.

Last day in Bangkok today. Relaxing and repacking for very early flight tomorrow. Tonight a Thai friend and I will go to Asiatique. I do not know what we will be eating but there are oodles of options. Hoping weather is nice. If we get another big storm like we had yesterday afternoon, we may have to rethink our plans.

Hungry for breakfast in the executive lounge! More later.

Bob I'm not a foodie so it's not too difficult. A cold beer and sliders will work fine in the absence of dim sum or shrimp cakes!

Emporium is under renovation so not easy to navigate. Some areas not accessible. I think the finish date is late August.

Still liking Siam Square One, but thinking that many of the little stalls wait to open for an evening Thai crowd.

The food in the executive lounge on soi 57 would most probably not constitute a meal for many folks. It's tasty, but not enough real food to call it a light dinner. Wine, beer, alcoholic beverages are free.

Another nasty storm moved in late this afternoon causing me to cancel Asiatique. Early to bed instead, for e 3:30 wake up call. Ugh....

Hong Kong JW is superior in any number of ways........but I'm after Marriott nights so here I am. Never made it to rooftop bar. It opens at five, but weather since I moved in here has not been good for any rooftop locations, unless inside! The storms seem to roll wildly in at about 5:30.

I probably will not return to this Marriott, mostly because the location does not suit me at all. Others may find the location to be a plus.

The best feature of a room here is the tub with a view (and the loo has a view too). The shower is nice but a bit unhandy as it hangs on the wall a couple of feet from the tub. There is a floor drain so the shower ix meant to create a very wet sloppy floor beside the tub. I much prefer an actual separate shower stall.

Sorry about the rather random thoughts of late. My Samsung Note isn't the easiest gadget for posting, but it's far easier than my smart phone!

Never did, Ken. Nothing that interesting just as you had indicated. I did take note of a food hall that I had not seen before, in Siam Center, top (?) floor. Huge selection. Very busy. All the malls have huge food courts. I need to give them more time I guess.

Getting ready to check out and head to BKK for flight to NRT on ANA in business class. Hope I can identify food on the menu this time!

Just got off the ANA flight to Narita, and I have to say that this was the most pleasant flight on this carrier to date. My first experience was not very good, and the second one was only so so. This one was pretty good. I will give ANA a chance again in the future. I had a nice nap, watched a stupid movie (most of them are stupid nowadays), and ate tasty food that I recognized! Flight attendants were very nice, always smiling.

We'll see how UA does!
