Delhi, Golden Triangle, Shimla, Bombay...help!!!
Hi all,
I'm reposting: First time poster, always read the messages! I am going to be travelling to India from Toronto on the 30th of April. We are a party of 3 (my sis, myself, and my bf). We will be landing in Delhi and then off to Agra-Jaipur-Udaipur, Shimla, Bombay, and Goa.
My sis and I are of Indian origin and this is our 3rd time back, but first time for my bf (he's Caucasian). Just wondering if anyone had any tips for safe trip, as well as any information about the must-see places in Delhi expecially as we will only have 21/2 days there. Also info. on Shimla would be good.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you!
hetal

hello hetal - well, what a strange post. I mean if it is your third trip and you are of Indian origin then you must be better placed than me to know how to feel "at home" in India.
Having said that, I have spent two big chunks of time there - and maybe you've never been to Delhi - big country, eh!
Must sees - well, the Red Fort (but sad that it's not very well maintained) and the Qutub Minar. And, depending on how you like your history - the view up Rajpath from India Gate towards Govt House.
On my third visit I finally made it to Humayuns Tomb which is a sort of mini Taj.
As for Simla - best things - just wandering around along, and below the Mall. And getting there on the toy train (if it's still running).

Thanks again!

The only problem with this trip is that it comes at what is perhaps the worst time weather-wise in India. Delhi is a cauldron this time of the year. Bombay is bearable, nevertheless very humid. Of course, all this is moot if you are going to see India through the glasses of air-conditioned comfort.

aaahh...i know its going to VERY HOT, but as university students, this is the best time for us to visit. Its all right, we'll make the best of a very warm situation and I guess i won't have any reason to complain since i always think its waaay too cold here!

I agree abouthe heat but if you are in Delhi do see:
1. The aforementioned and:
2. Indiras Gandhi's home, now a shrine
3. Lotus temple
4. Jama Mashjid
5. Shop at Connaught place, the Cottage Emporium, and Palika Bazaar, the latter two being nearby CP
6. India Gate
Also I recommend strongly medical prophylaxis, esp. for the bf. You have been there B4 but his system is a virgin so to speak. Have a nice time and drink alot of water (bottled). And i think you'll be warm enough to last next winter. LOL! Cheers, Larry.
