Day trips from Shanghai
Interested in two separate day trips in Shanghai, One to Hangzhou and one to Suzhou, Tongli and Zhouzhuang.
Are these easy to do using public transportation? I do not speak or read Chinese (Mandarin) and I'm travelling in January which is low season - worried about the frequency and availability of public transport for these day trips.
Any suggestions on how to organize the day trips will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

There are many trains every day between Shanghai and Suzhou and Hangzhou. Check the schedule here: www.china-diy-travel.com. you can buy the tickets at the station before departure but you may not get on the "next train". The faster trains tend to be more popular and are better booked a couple days ahead. Once you arrive at your destination you take the subway.
For Tongli you take the subway in Suzhou.
You probably don't have time for Zhouzhuang and it might be redundant in any case.
