Day Trip to Suzhou.

I think we can get a fast train from Hongqiao Railway Station to Suzhou. Would appreciate any
Information on the practicalities of this, please.
Would it be better to get a tourist bus from near Shanghai Stadium? It may be hard for us to find the correct bus stop.

We took the train on our own to Suzhou and it was very easy. You have the option of hiring a taxi once there and going on your own, or you can pick up a tour. There were tour buses lined up and ready to take passengers that wanted to join them. We were approached by many touts trying to sell tickets, but we chose to wander on our own instead.

Taking the train from Hongqiao is simple and faster. There are many trains all day long.

Question is where are you starting from? Suzhou isn't that far from Shanghai with lots of train services, and some you don't need to go to Hongqiao to take. So, it depends.

Hongqiao Station is not far from our hotel, by metro, so I thought this would be the way to go. Which is the best station to alight?

We've done trips to Jujiajiou water town by public bus, and enjoyed mixing with the locals, so would prefer to do it by ourselves if we can. Wandering sounds good to me, dgunbug!

Thank you all for your help.

What do you mean, best station to alight? Subway station? You get off at the Hongqiao Railway station subway stop.
