Crossing from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.
Dear forum members,
my question is two fold.
Is it possible to cross from Almaty Kazakhstan into Issyk Kul, Kyrgyzstan?
I'm a citizen of a country that does not need a visa to fly into both countries, but I am not sure if I can simply cross their mutual borders without any other documents.
Also, what is the average daily expense for both nations for 1 person?
For a budget 1 room hotel/motel, food, transport etc?
Thank you!

I suggest asking for a customized tour from guys who work at www.doctourkyrgyz.com they planned all my trips last year to Middle Asia it was always cool, fast, and cheap. Also, the guide Nikita made amazing excursions

To cross the land border from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan, at each border post your luggage is screened and your passports are stamped. From what I recall, it took about 20 minutes for border formalities on both sides.
In terms of budget, there is a wide range. It's roughly about 25% to 40% less than Western capitals.
