Corkage in Bangkok
Hi
Looking at many of the reviews for restaurants in BKK, there nearly always states a corkage charge. Can I assume this means I can bring my own wine and just pay the corkage fee? Is this something that people often do? I know the prices of quality wine in BKK is incredibly expensive and if this was something that I could do, it would be great.
Any information appreciated

If they list a corkage fee, you can definitely bring in your own wine. I've never been to a place in BKK where you couldn't bring your own.
Usually, if they don't list a corkage fee, they will come up with one that is fair.
Just so they don't have to say "no."

Just call the restaurant first and ask what the fee is. It normally range from 300 Baht to 900 Baht a bottle(Normandy at the Oriental but price varies a lot) but if you're a regular they don't charge anything - hic! The only time when they don't allow you to bring your own is when they are hosting a special chef from abroad and they're trying to make the most amount of profit. If you have some special bottle they will decanter it for you too.
