Conrad or Ritz in Bali???

My boyfriend and i are leaving for Bali next Wed, will be staying in ubud but i currently have a booking at the Ritz Carlton Jimbaran for our last day there. but now i'm thinking of changing my reservation to the Conrad. I've stayed at the ritz but my bf has not yet been to bali and would want him to really be amazed at the place. Which should i choose? help!! so i can cancel my reservation at the ritz if ever.

i can only say that the conrad is fabulous...we were there in june and would stay there another time...when you look out over those pools and out to the ocean that is a sight i would like to always remember...its not particularily balinese however...it is amazing though.....ask for a villa room where you swim right out from you deck...

I stayed at the Ritz in Dec last yr and thought it was good but not fab. The Thalasso spa there on the other hand is FAB! Have heard good things re the COnrad but not been there. DEF go to Ku de Ta - it was one of my most amazing dining experiences. Make a reservation. In Ubud go to Mosaic and if you feel like splurging and over eating and are there on a Sun go for Sun brunch at Biji at begawan Giri. Driving to Ubud will take about 1 hour I think - took us an hiur to transfer from the Ritz to Ubud.

it is not far from the conrad to ubud but driving is slow so it takes about an hour and 1/2 if you have no stops along the way....maybe a bit more....you will probably stop however...

we considered doing it for diner one nite and after doing it in the day we decided it was too far...

travel is very slow...the roads are all two lanes, one each way...

iu think putu told us that the ride from sanur to ubud was one hour...

I have visited both of these hotels and if these are the only choices, I would opt for the Ritz. They are both large multi-national properties, with similar clientele. The Conrad is brand new and stunningly beautiful with a fabulous pool lagoon system and good restaurants. HOWEVER, the location is just awful. Of course this is just my opinion -- sorry to offend any supporters, but I think it's necessary to understand that there isn't any beach at all and the waterway is clogged with jetskis. It's great if you stay on the resort grounds, but you need to take a car to go any where. This is true of the Ritz too. The Ritz has a nice beach (though it's a bit of a hassle to get to it) and the sunset is wonderful.

Personally, I'd go for the Legian or the Four Seasons Jimbaran over either the Ritz or the Conrad.

The Legian is right in the middle of Seminyak and a stone's throw from KuDeTa and La Lucciola and all the other restaurants, spas, and shops. Plus it's a really lovely, well run hotel.

Traffic is Bali is bad everywhere. I like to spend a few days where I can walk to where I need to go.

i found that most every place you wanted to go in bali needed transportation so i do not see the negetive of any of these locations...in sanur i did like being able to walk into the town but we still used taxis to avoid the heat...

some restaurants will send a car for you like bubbum bali from the conrad...

Daisy88, I'm sure you'll enjoy the Ritz so I'm not recommending that you make any change at this point, but just for the record, the Legian website lists a regular room at $300, not $500.

Have a wonderful time!
