Compromised email account AGAIN

To all my ASIA forum friends, my email account has been compromised again, and is sending out a message that I need money. It is a FAKE EMAIL. The email address has a 0 instead of the letter o in my address.

To the editor..... this is the forum where I post about 90% of the time on fodors. PLEASE do not move this email.

Carol

I cannot access that email account at all, so do NOT send any messages to that old email address. I have an account with gmail (cuebook) and will try to send you a message from there, if I can get access to your email address.

I'm SO SORRY this has happened!!! AGAIN!!! This time it seems to be worse though.

Ken just called me from Vegas. He wanted to know if I was in Surrey...

I've had nearly a dozen calls about the email, so I know it went out to a lot of people. So sorry about that!! Really!!

One person told me that it came into their junk mail box. It IS INDEED JUNK MAIL! But the account is totally and completely closed, so any emails to that address will bounce right back at you! I do have a new gmail account but will not post it here!! I'll send out messages in the next week or so, just so those of you whose contact info I DID manage to rescue will get the new address from me. It has the word traveller in it. Just to let you know.......

I told the guys here at the store that I'm just going to get on a plane for Hawaii TODAY,...NOW... rather than waiting until next week. They thought it would be a good idea... they are tired of me being in such a foul mood today...

BEWARE that [email protected] might still be an active email address. It has the zero where my REAL address had the letter 'o' in it. I've emailed a number of you with my new gmail address, which doesn't look like this old one!!!

I recently got a request from a friend of mine claiming to be in Surrey. Must be the same scammer. My friend is in Singapore. All her friends (most of whom are in Indiana) got the same e-mail.

That's interesting, indianapearl. I'll bet the two are very much related!

I just had a call from a dear friend in Italy, who got the scam email. I thought it was interesting that he replied to the scam saying he wanted to help, and what hotel, so he could send them his credit card. He got a reply that the hotel does not accept credit cards and he needed to send cash by Western Union! Then, he knew for sure that it was a scam. But he WAS taken in at first. I hope no one else has fallen for it!!!
