You can get all that in either country and both are wonderful places to visit but there is a much greater variety in Vietnam which also has a much more diverse scenery. You do not provide much information on your interests e.g. History, cultural stuff, nature etc. which makes it difficult to provide suggestions but having visited both countries several times, I would choose Vietnam but that is based purely on my personal preferences.

More information would enable responses more in tune with your needs.

How much time do you have? I consider the temples at Angkor a must-see, but it does depend on your interests. When will you be traveling as that makes a difference as well.

On the whole, and based on what the interests you list, I would go for Vietnam.

You can combine all four interests you list in Hoi An, although best wait until the typhoon has fully passed.

We would be going in April for about 2 weeks
We are looking for a holiday where we can relax and eat by the pool.

I think you would love Vietnam and especially since you want to relax, not really spend hours and hours at the ruins. (another trip) Food is great and I think it is more relaxing.

It is a while since we stayed there for an anniversary trip in April a few years but we had a great time at http://www.sixsenses.com/evason-reso...ra/destination . Some good shopping and easily accessible for other parts of Vietnam if yo did want I include other places. Decent weather in April. Alternatively, Mui Ne or the surrounding areas may be worth a look.

"good shopping, food, hotels and beaches . . . relax and eat by the pool"

If that's your top priority then I wouldn't choose Vietnam OR Cambodia. Sounds more like Southern Thailand or Bali.

I agree, marmot. Do look into Thailand or Bali.
