Vientiane Boy in response to your comments about volunteering, this may surprise you but I agree with you. We did not get a lot of direction, we did pay a lot of money for what we received, the teachers would hand us the books and say 'here you go'
By the last couple of days we figured out what we should be there for. Not teaching the class. The teacher was well trained to do that. We should have been there solely for the purpose of having a native English speaking person show how the words are pronounced. Period. They need to practice thier English and learn how to say the words. We should not be teaching them grammer / past present etc.

I say Native speaking because some of the others who have English as a second language may not pronounce it well. But that may be splitting hairs.

That is why we like being in the library the best becuase we could sit and have conversations and help them with thier pronunciation.

As wonderful as this experience was I would not do it this way again. I would go to the library or something similar and ask if I could help by having conversations with the kids.

I learned a lot from this experience.
