Bespoke suits in HK
Hi all,
Have a 4 day trip in HK coming and and among the 50000 things I want to do is get a nice suit made, but seeing as I am a fresh college graduate I want to keep it low.
I am looking to go to Bonham Strand tailors, but as everything I've read about them have come online, I wanted to ask around and see if anyone knows of them and what their reputation is. If not, I will probably go blindly, but obviously I hope someone can tell me of their stories - the good bad and ugly.
Thanks
Derek

AsiaHopper - you don't want to know about hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, ferries etc? On your very first posting on Fodors you only want to know a stranger's opinion on a specific tailor?
Lots of "tailors" try to advertise here and under various guises!

Tourist attractions, ferries etc are all researchable and the different sources all are pushing for the same thing. Try looking up Hong Kong tailors - not only are there 50 different ones, the most well known ones are also accused of being tourist traps. So while I don't need expert advice on knowing that I should check out Victoria Harbor, I do need advice on tailors - esp if I'm dropping $500+!
Had no idea they like to advertise on Fodors.

Asiahopper, If you are serious about locating a good tailor, search here for Hong Kong Tailors using the advanced search function, and look for posts by Cicerone.
Hanuman is right, your post did sound like the beginning of an ad for a tailor. I was expecting to see a post from some (another first-time poster) telling you about the most AMAZING tailor in Hong Kong.
Good luck. Do be aware that the best predictor of satisfaction with a custom-made garment is the time and effort put into fittings. For a suit, no less than three fitting will be required.
